Grondona Replaces Ortega Desio for South African Tour

Santiago Grondona is to replace Javier Ortega Desio for the South African tour. Los Jaguares are set to face the Stormers tomorrow in Cape Town. The match is the first of three games in South Africa on the current tour.

Ortega Desio had been training to start the match at flanker, yet he down in training with a knock and was ruled out of the match. Without him Gonzalo Quesada opted for Tomás Lezana and Francisco Gorrissen to be the flankers and Rodrigo Bruni the N8 against the Stormers.

Marcos Kremer is the replacement flanker for this match, although he is expected to start the two remaining tour matches against the Sharks and Bulls. Grondona will join the team today in Cape Town and also be in consideration for the two remaining tour matches. Should he play it would mark his Super Rugby debut.

The prognosis of Ortega Desio is yet to be confirmed. Grondona is re-joining Los Jaguares from Los Ceibos for this reason.
