Weekend sees a flurry of tries from Argentine hookers

In a busy weekend of professional rugby, Argentine hooker stood out in scoring a flurry of tries. The tries came in different competitions in some of the world’s most famous cities – Buenos Aires, Argentina; Paris, France; and Las Vegas, Nevada.

First up was a try from Facundo Bosch. The 2018 Puma scored splendid solo effort for La Rochelle in their road match against Stade Français. His try appeared to be a match-winner, yet magic from another Argentine player would ultimately see Stade Français to victory.

On Saturday in Buenos Aires Los Jaguares scored six tries to defeat the Reds. Four of the six tries were scored by Los Jaguares’ hookers as captain, for the day, Julián Montoya scored a hat-trick and replacement Santiago Socino also scored.

In Major League Rugby (MLR) Diego Fortuny was a scorer for the Houston SaberCats on Sunday. Having just entered the match, the replacement replicated Montoya and Socino by scoring a set-move try from a rolling-maul off the back of an attacking lineout.

The hooker options available to Argentina are arguably at an all-time high. Not playing this past weekend was Agustín Creevy due to injury and Tomás Baravalle due to the weather cancellation of Benetton’s Pro 14 fixture.
