The pools have been confirmed for this coming weekend’s Seven Challenge Series: Montevideo. Sixteen teams will compete in four pools on February 22-23 at the Estadio Charrúa, South America’s premier rugby-specific facility.
All four pools contain competitors from the Americas. In Pool A hosts Uruguay are to face Mexico, Papua New Guinea and, the winner from the Viña de Mar leg, Germany.
Pool B sees Jamaica and Brazil facing each other in addition to Jamaica and Brazil. It is a group in which a host of outcomes are possible, with Jamaica looking to further their strong showing from Viña del Mar and Brazil needing a far better set of performances.
Paraguay are up against the hosts of the 2020 Olympic Games in Pool C. Japan will be a unique challenge for Los Yákares, while both Zimbabwe and Italy are certain to also demand a high standard of play.
Finally, in Pool D the Americas will be represented by Chile and Colombia. They are to be joined by Tonga and Portugal in what is another group with a range of possibilities. Chile will be targeting top spot; a repeat of what they achieved on home soil this past weekend.
