Chile the best of Americas on Day One of Sevens Challenger Series

Chile were the best of the Americas on day one of the Sevens Challenger Series in Viña del Mar. Los Cóndores were victorious in all of their three matches today, while Zimbabwe were second placed in the pool with wins over Brazil and Mexico.

The day one results see Chile qualifying for the Quarter Finals. Also reaching the final eight were Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

The additional competitors from the Americas – Brazil, Colombia, Mexico Paraguay and Uruguay all missed out on reaching the Quarter Finals.

Mexico’s win over Brazil saw Las Serpientes handing the bottom spot of the pool to Brazil. Both Colombia and Paraguay were also winless, while Uruguay recovered from a sluggish first two matches to defeat Portugal in their third; and Jamaica had a 2-1 record for the day, with their win coming against Colombia.
