MLR 2020 – Week 1 Broadcast Guide

The opening weekend of the 2020 Major League Rugby season is upon us. Three new teams will take their first steps as the New England Free Jacks, Old Glory DC, and Rugby ATL join a cast of nine returnees. All 12 will be in action with two games on Saturday and four on Sunday.

Given the honor of opening the third season are the Houston SaberCats and Colorado Raptors. Their match will be the first to air on ESPN News. Old Glory make their professional debuts in New Orleans at the Gold’s new home on Airline Drive. Cox Sports and NBC Sports Washington will carry local broadcasts, with ESPN+ available nationwide.

Sunday has a jam-packed schedule with Rugby ATL’s first match against the Utah Warriors. It will be available on 11Alive and ESPN+. The Free Jacks are in Las Vegas to play Rugby United New York. NESN has the local broadcast with ESPN+ also available.

The first CBS Sports Network game of the week is a rematch of last year’s final – the San Diego Legion vs Seattle Seawolves. Closing out the weekend is Austin’s first regular season match as the Gilgronis. They will play the Toronto Arrows, with first ever broadcasts on Fox Sports 2 in the USA and TSN 2 and TSN Direct in Canada.

All matches will be streamed live on the official MLR Facebook page for those located outside the USA and Canada. The same Facebook streams are also available to Canadian viewers with the exception of the Arrows match.
