South America’s professional league, the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby begins on March 04. While teams and athletes have been preparing for the season, the rosters of Selknam (Chile) and Corinthians (Brazil) had remained unconfirmed. That has now changed for the former.
27 Chileans have been announced by Chile Rugby on the Selknam roster. They are to play for the Santiago-based side under former Uruguayan captain and Head Coach, Pablo Lemoine.
The team is captained by Chile’s Ignacio Silva. He was the original Selknam player, and the only public confirmed name for a lengthly period. He is joined by the who’s who of Chilean rugby on the roster. Aside from notable absentees Pablo Huete and Anton Petrowitsch, the roster is filled with Chile’s top names not contracted to foreign clubs.
In addition to the 27 Chileans on the Selknam roster, there are eight further players. Five of them are from Argentina – Albornoz, Baronio, Bruno, Stávile and Viale; one – Rarawa from Fiji; and two – Fosita and Ika from Tonga.
