Guido Volpi moves from Ospreys to Doncaster

Argentine eightman Guido Volpi has joined Doncaster Knights of the RFU Championship. While the move is technically a loan from Ospreys, it’s expected that the 24-year-old will see out the rest of the season in England. His Guinness Pro 14 contract expires in June.

An international at u18 level, Volpi was part of Argentina’s PladAR system but after being overlooked for the Pumitas u20s he moved to France on an academy deal with Narbonne. In May 2018 he signed a two-year deal with Ospreys. Since then he has played just seven matches for the club, all as a replacement.

Doncaster are currently 9th on the Championship table, well ahead of last-place Yorkshire Carnegie. They already have World Cup flankers Fotu Lokotui and Wian Conradie under contract, but with regular No8 Ollie Stedman injured were in need of a ball carrier at the back of the scrum.
