Cappiello, Muzzio and Ormaechea Win Against Pro D2 Leaders Perpignan

Argentine players Juan Cappiello and Carlos Muzzio; and Uruguay’s Agustín Ormaechea won today against Pro D2 leaders Perpignan. The 34-14 victory sees Mont de Marsan moving into 10th position in the French second division while Perpignan fall to 3rd.

Capitol started the match at outside center and Muzzio did so at loose head prop. Both men were replaced in the second half, in the 71st and 67th minutes respectively. Ormaechea was a replacement, coming on in the 73rd minute.

For Mont de Marsan, today’s win takes the club up to 38 competition points. They remain in the hunt for a place in the play-off’s. Perpignan now have 58 points which is one more than the fourth placed Oyonnax; one less than the second placed Colomiers; and three less than the league leading Grenoble. As it stands these four are likely to determine the promotion picture to the Top 14.

Yet, a lot could still happen as there are 12 rounds remaining in the regular season. Next round will see both Mont de Marsan and Perpignan expected to win as both have home matches. Mont de Marsan host Aurillac and Perpignan receive Carcassonne.
