Uruguay were victorious at the Seven de Mar del Plata over the weekend. Los Teros clinched the Gold Final with a 10-7 victory over top Argentine club Duendes.
A perfect five-from-five saw them victorious after wins over Mendoza and CURDA on Day One, then invitational sides Locos and Sixty on Day Two. The team was led by veteran halfback Guillermo Lijtenstein.
Meanwhile Chile were winners of the Plate competition, defeating Mendoza 24-0 in their final match. Los Cóndores were beaten by Duendes in their opening match but recovered to beat the Coarsa Raptors, Luque, and Hindú.
Both Uruguay and Chile were preparing for the upcoming Challengers Series next month with the goal of promotion to core status on the senior World Sevens Series. The first tournament will be hosted by Chile in Viña del Mar beginning on February 15.
