Ignacio Albornoz signs for Selknam

Selknam have yet to confirm their roster for the inaugural Súper Liga de Americana season, but another Argentine has confirmed his signature with the Chilean franchise. Utility back Ignacio Albornoz joins the team from Tucumán and joins countrymen Rodrigo Bruno and Patricio Baronio in moving to Santiago.

Albornoz, 24, has represented both the Tucumán club and provincial side in Argentine national domestic competitions. A precocious talent at age grade level, he was twice selected for the Pumitas at the Junior World Championship, playing the first despite still being eligible for u18s. He is capable of playing flyhalf, center, or fullback.

Meanwhile the Tucumán union has voiced their displeasure over losing several players to the new professional competition, claiming improper signing procedures for some players. The response on social media and indeed players themselves has been highly negative, with Albornoz chastising the union for failing to support growth in the region.
