Argentina to Host South Africa in new Rugby Championship Venue

Argentina are to host South Africa in a new Rugby Championship venue. The second round fixture of the 2020 Rugby Championship between Los Pumas and the Springboks will be played at the Estaio Bicentenario in San Juan.

The stadium has been used for home internationals in the mid-year window but is yet to receive a match in the Rugby Championship. The historic match between Argentina and South Africa will be no ordinary match as Los Pumas will be defending their home soil against the world champions.

The match is to be played on Saturday, August 18; Kick-off is confirmed for 4:40pm.

Argentina’s two other home Rugby Championship matches are currently being finalized. The fifth round match against New Zealand is expected to be played at Veles Sarsfield in Buenos Aires. The stadium is the home venue for Los Jaguares in Super Rugby. Sources note that La Plata is also being considered.

In the final round, Argentina will host Australia. The expected venue for that fixture is Mendoza, however it is also unconfirmed. Córdoba and Santa Fé are understood to both be under consideration.
