The Olímpia Lions continue their player recruitment ahead of the inaugural Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). The latest player unveiled is winger Arturo López. The speedster is from Argentine province Missiones, which borders Paraguay.
Although he is from Argentina, López is eligible to play for Paraguay. The 21-year-old has prior experience playing for Paraguay at u20s level and he is seen as a prospect for the future.
Thus far the Olímpia Lions have nine Paraguayan players, all of whom were chosen by Head Coach Raúl Pérez. They are Emilio Gorostiaga (San José), Luis Quinteros (San José), Alejandro Montiel (Curda), Sebastián Urbieta (Curda), Juan González (Asunción), Renato Cardona (Curda), Diego Argaña (Curda), Marcelo Matiauda (San José), Ariel Núñez (San José).
The Olímpia Lions roster also contains a healthy number of Argentine players. Joining López on the roster are Gabriel Ascárate, Facundo Maina, Manuel Montero, Santiago Resino, Federico Gutiérrez, Axel Zapata, Alejandro Torres, Máximo Ledesma, and Thomas Gallo.
