Herrera Extends Contract With La Rochelle Until 2022

Former Pumas prop, Ramiro Herrera is remaining in France on a long-term basis. The 30-year-old from Patagonia was signed by La Rochelle from Stade Français as a medical joker but has now extended his contract until 2022.

In remaining at La Rochelle, Herrera joins fellow Puma and Facundo Bosch at the club. Both men are former Jaguares though their pathways to La Rochelle are markedly different. In search of regular gametime, Bosch moved from Los Jaguares to Agen, while Herrera played for Castres in 2014-2015 before playing a key role at RWC 2015 and then returning to Argentina.

Herrera earned his test debut in June 2014 against Ireland. The most recent of his 40 caps was against Australia in the 2019 Rugby Championship. He missed out on a place in RWC 2019 with Mario Ledesma showing preference to a Jaguar. That player was Enrique Pieretto who now plays for the Exeter Chiefs in the UK.
