Olímpia Lions have captured another professional from Spanish club Alcobendas. Former Argentina XV flanker Nicolás Proto follows Spain scrumhalf Facundo Munilla in joining the Paraguayan franchise of the new Súper Liga Americana de Rugby.
Proto, 28, only just joined Alcobendas this season. He was a standout openside in the División de Honor, scoring three tries in 10 starts and appearing in almost every minute of those games. Previously captain of Tucumán Lawn Tennis, Proto represented Argentina at the 2014 Tbilisi Cup.
The Lions are still unveiling their roster but nearly a full match day squad has now been identified for the team based in Asunción. Among those joining the nine local Paraguayans are Namibia World Cup flanker Max Katjijeko and former Pumas backs Gabriel Ascárate and Manuel Montero.
