Three more Argentines join Olímpia Lions

Three more Argentines have joined the Olímpia Lions. The Paraguayan team to compete in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) have three more players from the southern border to add to Gabriel Ascárate, Federico Gutiérrez, Facundo Maina, Manuel Montero, Santiago Resino, and Axel Zapata from Argentina.

The three new names are Thomas Gallo, Máximo Ledesma, and Alejandro Torres. Gallo joins from Tucumán club Universitario. The loosehead prop was a sensation for Los Pumitas at the 2019 Junior World Championship with his try against France being exceptional.

Also joining the Olímpia Lions from Universitario is Torres. The 20-year-old has also played for Argentina at u20 level and for Tucumán Provence. His position is center.

Like Gallo and Torres, the third signing is also from Tucumán. Ledesma, a flyhalf, will join former Pumas center Gabriel Ascárate in joining the Olímpia Lions from Natación y Gimnasia.

Also from Natación y Gimnasia is Los Ceibos scrum-half Gonzalo García. He has previously played together with Máximo Ledesma, and Gabriel Ascárate for the club in the Nacional de Clubes. They formed a starting formation of 9 García, 10 Ledesma, 12 Ascárate.
