Bosch scores as La Rochelle complete big win over Agen

Facundo Bosch scored the opening try for La Rochelle on Sunday. His Top 14 side were up against his former club, Agen and completed a big win. The 40-8 victory continues La Rochelle’s strong season. After 12 rounds the club is in 5th position.

Bosch joined La Rochelle this season from Agen. He spent two seasons at Agen, whom he joined from Los Jaguares. A lack of options for hooker behind Agsitín Creevy, and Julián Montoya saw Bosch taking an offer to move to France.

Aged 28, Bosch is much younger that Agustín Creevy who is 34. This factor combined with sustained strong form from Bosch places him as a player well positioned for test duty during the RWC 2019-2023 cycle.

Argentina’s selection rules of only selecting Jaguares under Daniel Hourcade saw Bosch uncapped until Mario Ledesma replaced him in mid-2018. With Montoya injured in the early rounds of the Rugby Championship, Diego Fortuny faced South Africa away and Bosch did so at home.

The policy has been eased though those at Jaguares continue to gain preference. Ledesma took Santiago Socino with him a the third hooker to RWC 2019. Socino, Bosch, and Tomás Baravalle (Benetton) are all options at hooker for Argentina. Additional professional hookers will be monitored from Los Ceibos – José Luis González, Leonel Oveido, and Pablo Dimcheff.
