Danny Giraldo Joining Peñarol from Colombia

Danny Giraldo is set to join Uruguay’s SLAR team, Peñarol from Colombia. Americas Rugby News has learned that the second-rower is to join the Montevideo-based franchise on January 04 to prepare for the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby.

Giraldo played against the Uruguay XV in Montevideo earlier this year. He did so in the Sudamérica 6 Naciones A with Los Tucanes playing on the road in a non-capped fixture against the Uruguayans. The Uruguay XV were 38-24 winners though Colombia had been competitive in the contest.

In moving to Uruguay, Giraldo is the first Colombian unveiled for the SLAR. There are to be others, including a further Colombian soon to be confirmed as joining Peñarol. Gerald joins Peñarol from Gatos Rugby Club in Medellín.
