Olimpia Lions have signed Spain international Facundo Munilla. The 24-year-old scrumhalf makes a surprise exit from División de Honor club Alcobendas to join the new professional side based in Asunción. He was previously part of Toulon’s academy program in France.
Munilla is the elder of two brothers who compete at scrumhalf for Spain. Born in Marbella, their father is originally from Argentina. It’s Paraguay where Munilla will be training ahead of the Súper Liga’s inaugural season, where he will suit up alongside Pumas caps Gabriel Ascárate and Manuel Montero among others.
There are now two scrumhalf options confirmed for Olimpia with Paraguay international Renato Cardona also capable of playing wing or fullback. Munilla won the most recent of his 19 test caps in June, when he and brother Tomás shared playing time for Los Leones on their South American tour.
