Imhoff stars in Racing 92 win over Ospreys

Juan Imhoff was at his best once again for Racing 92 in their Champions Cup win over Ospreys in Paris on Friday evening. The flying winger had five line breaks including two for tries in the 40-27 victory that puts Racing six points clear at the top of Pool 4 with two rounds to go before the Quarter Finals.

The first score came at the 14-minute mark, with Imhoff snatching a loose pass from new Ospreys arrival Marty McKenzie to run in untouched from near halfway. Maxime Machenaud’s conversion made it 12-5 and soon the gap would be stretched further.

The second was a classic Imhoff finish. Starting on the left wing, he drifted in-field looking for work and followed up Louis Dupichot’s incisive break to take the final pass in under the sticks. Another routine conversion pushed the score to 19-5 with 24 minutes played.

Mario Ledesma’s decision to leave Imhoff out of Argentina’s Rugby World Cup squad continues to be a sore spot for Pumas fans. In the meantime the 31-year-old remains in top form domestically with 9 tries scored in 13 games across all competitions this season.
