Americas Champions to Compete in MLR vs SLAR Fixture

In a special initiative the Americas will have official club champions in 2020. UAR President Marcelo Rodríguez has today confirmed that there will be a battle of the champions in 2020 between the winners of Major League Rugby (MLR) and Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR).

Both leagues are to kick-off in February and will go uninterrupted, concluding before the July 2020 international window. The 2020 MLR season will feature eleven USA teams and one Canadian; while the SLAR will have one from each of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

The date and location for the special ‘Americas Final’ have not yet been confirmed. Rodríguez has nonetheless said that there are strong chances that it will be played in Mexico.
