Tommy Seymour retires from Scotland duty

American-born winger Tommy Seymour has announced his retirement from international rugby. The Nashville native represented Scotland for seven years beginning in 2013, coming to a close at the Rugby World Cup in Japan, his second World Cup.

Seymour, 31, spent his formative years in Tennessee but then moved first to Dubai and then Belfast, Northern Ireland. He graduated to senior Ulster honors in 2010 but moved to Glasgow Warriors the next year. Qualifying for Scotland through his mother, Seymour won 55 caps for his adopted country and scored 20 tries.

The highest honor of Seymour’s international career came in 2017 when he was selected for the British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand. Though he did not play in any of the tests, his three tries in four games were the most of any player on the tour.
