Bazán Vélez Out of Cape Town Sevens

In a blow for Argentina Lautaro Bazán Vélez has been ruled out of playing in the Cape Town Sevens. The scrum-half suffered a sprained left knee while competing in the Dubai Sevens tournament.

Bazán Vélez held down a starting position throughout the Dubai Sevens. In the tournament Argentina started with a 12-10 loss against France; from there Los Pumas 7’s recovered to defeat Fiji 24-21; and Japan 33-7 in pool play. The results put Argentina into the Cup Quarter Finals where they were beaten 12-5 by South Africa.

South Africa will host the upcoming second round of the World Sevens Series. Argentina will be without Bazán Vélez for the 2019 Cape Town Sevens with Felipe del Mestre, and Gerónimo Prisciantelli joining the team for the competition.
