The 2020 Americas Rugby Championship (ARC) schedule has been announced. For the first time in ARC history the competition will be played in the months of August, and September. The move sees it now being summer in North America, and winter in South America – a reserve of the 2016-2019 tournaments.
As was the case in 2016-2019 the 2020 ARC will be a Six Nations of the Americas tournament. Competing are to be the test teams from Brazil, Canada, Chile, Uruguay, and the USA. The remaining side it the Argentina XV, the next-of-XV from Argentina after Los Pumas.
The 2020 ARC will be played over five consecutive weekends. It will open with a derby weekend in which the USA host Canada; the Argentina XV host Chile; and Uruguay host Brazil. All three matches are to be played on August 15.
For 2020 the Argentina XV, Uruguay, and the USA will each have three home and two away matches. Canada, and Chile are to play the reserve with three road games and two at home. All match venues will be confirmed at a later date.
The 2020 Americas Rugby Challenge (ARCh) will be played at the same time. In the yet to be confirmed location four teams will contest the competition with the winner advancing to a Play-Off Final against the bottom placed side from the ARC.
In the two year history of the ARCh Colombia are undefeated. Los Tucanes won both editions by defeating Guyana, Mexico, and Paraguay in 2018; and the Cayman Islands, Mexico, and Paraguay in 2019.
The ARC vs ARCh Play-Off will be played during the November International window. Based on prior tournament results Colombia vs Chile is the expected fixture.
