Thretton Palamo checks in at Old Glory DC

Preseason training began for ten Major League Rugby sides on Monday, with only the New England Free Jacks and Seattle Seawolves opting for a later start date. Among those checking in at the start of Old Glory DC’s first full campaign is Eagles center Thretton Palamo, who joins from the Houston SaberCats.

Palamo joins brother Toshi in the Old Glory camp, the latter an Assistant Coach with the side under top man Andrew Douglas. The side is yet to officially announce the addition of their World Cup signing but should do so imminently now that preseason has started.

Among others who reported for camp are a pair of returning front row players from the spring – All-American hooker Mo Katz and tighthead prop Dante Lopresti. They make it eight confirmed returning players on the MLR roster with more to be revealed in the coming days.

Five of their spring teammates have been named in Old Glory and Capital Selects rosters to play against two USA South sides this coming weekend. Prop Sam Morris, halfback John Stapleton, and loose forward trio Dacoda Worth, Thomas Demetriou, and Michael Fletcher will suit up in the development fixtures.

Old Glory have secured two preseason games to be played at The St. James, an indoor facility located in Springfield, Virginia. The US Navy will arrive on January 18 with fellow MLR expansion side Rugby ATL making the trip north on January 26.
