Renato Cardona confirmed for Olímpia Lions

Renato Cardona has been confirmed as a Súper Liga Americana de rugby player for the Olímpia Lions. The Paraguayan wing or fullback and Pumas winger Manuel Montero are the players thus far publicly contracted to play for Paraguay’s first professional rugby team.

Cardona has been a regular for Paraguay. In 2019 he scored a try in Paraguay’s 54-15 loss against Colombia, as well as in the 35-27 defeat against Mexico. He was also a try scorer in Paraguay’s 2018 44-29 loss against Colombia. In scoring regularly for a struggling team, Cardona underlined himself as among Paraguay’s best.

He has also contributed to wins for Las Yakares. In 2018 Cardona scored a double in Paraguay’s 86-7 win over Guyana. With a notable try scoring ability, Cardona is a player ready for the Super Liga Americana de Rugby.
