Ben Tarr cleared to return, re-signs for NOLA

Ben Tarr has been cleared to return to action for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The US Eagles prop suffered what was thought to be a potentially career-threatening neck injury in April but has now been declared fully fit to return, and a new deal signed for a third season with the NOLA Gold.

It’s been over two years since Tarr won the most recent of his 11 test caps, but he has been a mainstay with the Gold since day one. The 25-year-old played every game during the 2018 campaign and started the first nine of 2019 before injury struck. Four players plugged the gap at No3 for the final seven games of the season.

There will be less workload for Tarr in 2020 as the Gold have signed another Eagles international – Dino Waldren – to bolster their resources at tighthead. USA Select XV rep Cam Falcon will be a third option on the right side while also providing cover at hooker.

Cameron Troxler has also confirmed his return for the 2020 season. The 23-year-old fullback has played three games in each of 2018 and 2019 for the Gold. A Collegiate All-American in sevens, Troxler had initially announced a break from the game to focus on studies but has now committed to another season with the Gold.
