DC signs Canada center Doug Fraser from Austin

Old Glory DC have signed Canadian international Doug Fraser for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old heads to the east coast from Austin, Texas, where he suited up with the Elite (now Herd) in 2019. It’s the 20th signing confirmed by the expansion side for their inaugural regular season.

Fraser signed for Austin ahead of 2019 but visa complications delayed his arrival until mid-season. He would play just four games before hit with injury. There will be at least one familiar face waiting in DC with Canada ‘A’ back row Travis Larsen also joining from the Elite.

Comfortable at either center position, Fraser is most at home in the No13 shirt. He is known for his fierce defense but also the ability to break the gainline. The hard-hitting midfielder was included in Canada’s long-list for the Rugby World Cup but his lack of game time hampered his chances for final selection.
