Ardron Captains Barbarians Against Brazil

Canada’s Tyler Ardron has been named as captain of the Barbarians for Wednesday’s international match against Brazil in São Paulo. The Chiefs Super Rugby player will lead the side from the second-row and is to be joined in the Barbarians by three further Americas players.

Named to start at fly half is Santiago González Iglesias. The 31-year-old has 41 caps for Argentina though was not selected in 2019 and was also out of favor at Jaguares. His start against the Barbarians is his first game at fly half since April.

Also out of favor in Super Rugby and for Los Pumas was Bautista Ezcurra. The former star performer for Los Pumas 7’s also missed out on caps in 2019 and for the Barbarians he will not be playing center but wing. Nonetheless, his name is confirmed for the 2020 Super Rugby campaign.

Also to be involved in the game is Ben Landry. The 28-year-old from Wisconsin will feature from the bench against Brazil. Landry has 25 caps for the USA and played in three matches at RWC 2019.

Wednesday’s Brazil vs Barbarians fixture is the second of three end-of-year matches for the Barbarians. In game one the Barbarians fell to Fiji in London while game three will be against Wales in Cardiff.
