Tevita Tameilau leaves Glasgow for San Diego

USA international Tevita Tameilau has been granted an early release from his Glasgow Warriors contract to join the San Diego Legion for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 29-year-old back row is the 9th new arrival ready to bolster the 2019 finalists.

This will be Tameilau’s second MLR side. He played for the Utah Warriors during the 2018 season, after which he joined Glasgow on a two-year deal. After seeing only limited action during his first season in the Guinness Pro 14, Tameilau returns to his native California for a fresh start.

At 6’4″ (1.94m) and 270lbs (122kg), the 15-test Eagles No8 is an imposing figure and an ideal replacement for departed Jordan Manihera. Tameilau adds to a loose forward contingent that already boasts size and dynamism with Jasa Veremalua, Psalm Wooching, Devin Short, and Keni Nasoqeqe signed up for 2020.
