Uruguay secure coach Meneses through RWC 2023

Uruguay have secured the coaching services of Esteban Meneses through to RWC 2023. The Head Coach of Los Teros has agreed to terms to remain in charge of the team for the duration of the new RWC cycle.

Despite RWC 2019 having only recently finished there is no rest time for Uruguay. The strategic plan is underway with the goals being for Uruguay to qualify for RWC 2023 and to, as in RWC 2019, perform well.

The RWC 2023 qualifiers have not yet been confirmed though in the case of Uruguay it will come in the form of the 2021 Americas Rugby Championship (ARC). Securing the services of Meneses means that the work can already begin.

The URU have today also named Guzmán Barreiro as  Head Coach of the national High Performance Program. He will work with former Pumas winger Gonzalo Camardon in the academy and the junior representative teams. Meanwhile former Pumas second-rower Pablo Bouza will be Head Coach of the Súper Liga franchise which is shaping up as being one side rather than two as reported.
