Chile defeat San Juan in test warm-up

A strong performance from Los Cóndores saw Chile defeating San Juan 35-5 today in Argentina. The visiting test side had a solid platform from the forwards, a strong indication of the developmental process that is going on under Head Coach Pablo Lemoine.

In the opening half Chile’s pack saw the team camped in the half of azul. This would lead to the opening try which was scored by N8 Ignacio Silva from the base of an advancing scrum. Additional opening half tries to Beltrán Vergara, Matías Dittus, and Augusto Bohme gave Los Cóndores a 28-0 lead.

In the second half San Juan matched Chile in returning with one try per team. San Juan’s score was started by fly half José Camacho and it was winger Emilio Mas touching down. The unconverted try was the only score of the 80 minutes for the azul.

Chile’s second half score went to outside center Domingo Saavedra. It safe Chile winning the second half 7-5 but ultimately the work done in the second half saw a less intensive second 40 minutes.

Los Cóndores now return home to prepare for next Saturday. They will play host to Portugal in Santiago, a fully capped test match.
