SaberCats sign former Turbos hooker Tim Cadwallader

The Houston SaberCats have signed former Manawatu Turbos front rower Tim Cadwallader for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. He arrives from Hong Kong where he has been playing for Kowloon RFC in recent months, having spent five seasons with the Turbos prior to the move.

Cadwallader played tighthead prop for the New Zealand side at the 2014 World Rugby u20 Championship. He then switched his focus to hooker, where he was used exclusively by Manawatu from 2016 to 2018. During that time he was also part of the Hurricanes Development XV.

A month shy of his 25th birthday, Cadwallader brings strong professional experience to the SaberCats front row that has also added fellow New Zealand age-grade rep Boyd Wiggins in the off-season. Incumbent hooker Pat O’Toole is yet to be confirmed for the 2020 season though his short-term contract with Glasgow Warriors has now come to an end.
