Raptors re-brand for 2020 Major League Rugby season

The Glendale Raptors are now the Colorado Raptors. A new logo and team name was unveiled for the 2018 Major League Rugby finalists on Thursday. After speculation the team could shift to the more widely known Denver name, they have instead opted to attach themselves to the state to follow suit with the Avalanche of the NHL, Rockies of Major League Baseball, and Rapids of Major League Soccer.

In making the change the team is following their theme of change for the 2020 season. A new coaching staff led by Peter Borlase has been put in place during the off-season while only half of last season’s roster has been retained. Among the new names are Samoan prop Zak Taulafo and former Wallabies star Digby Ioane.

The announcement coincides with the launch of 2020 season ticket sales and a new website. Colorado will open their 2020 regular season campaign on the road against the Houston SaberCats on February 8. Their home opener at Infinity Park is scheduled for February 22 when they host the NOLA Gold.
