NOLA Gold re-sign Malcolm May, add Collegiate pair

Three more players have put pen to paper with the NOLA Gold for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. Back row forward Malcolm May has re-signed after an injury disrupted 2019 season, and he is joined by two new names in Life winger Jonathan Poole and eightman Tabo Maree from Arkansas State.

This past season did not quite go to plan for May, who signed with NOLA in the fall of 2018. The 23-year-old appeared in just two games before suffering an an Achilles tendon injury in training that ruled him out for the remainder of the season. He will be looking to make up for lost time in 2020 as part of a strong group of loose forwards.

Poole has signed his first professional contract just three years after starting his collegiate rugby career with Life University. A native of of New Orleans, Pool was previously a competitive triathlete who has made an impressive transition to rugby where his strength and endurance have also turned heads in 7s with Optimus Rugby.

The most recent confirmation to the team is powerful ball carrier Maree. Originally from Amersfoort in the South African province of Mpumalanga, the 22-year-old moved stateside in 2014 and has been a key player for A-State since. Also capable of playing on the blindside flank, in 2018 he earned 2nd-team Collegiate All-American selection
