Seawolves sign David Busby from Ulster

The Seattle Seawolves have added outside back David Busby to their roster for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. Equally comfortable at wing or fullback, the 25-year-old arrives from his native Northern Ireland, where he was part of Ulster’s senior academy program beginning in the fall of 2016.

Having been a starter for Ireland during the 2014 u20 Six Nations tournament, Busby narrowly missed out on selection for the World Junior Championship that year but was immediately snapped up by the Ireland Sevens side. He would play in several tournaments on the European circuit.

At Ulster. Busby appeared in a handful of senior Pro 14 matches but was a regular in British & Irish Cup and Ulster ‘A’ sides. In 2016 he played in the exhibition match against Canada at Ravenhill.

Busby looks to be a direct replacement for Peter Tiberio, the Eagles cap who recently confirmed his retirement. The Seawolves continue to confirm new players and re-signings ahead of the third year of MLR. Seattle have won the title in each of the first two seasons.
