Old Glory sign Fijian Drua lock Tevita Naqali

Old Glory DC have signed Fijian Drua lock Tevita Naqali for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 6’5″ (1.96m) athlete is set to form a dynamic second row partnership with countryman Api Naikatini, who recently joined the expansion side from the 2019 champion Seattle Seawolves.

Naqali has played for the Drua in Australia’s National Rugby Championship for the past two seasons. He was a starter in this year’s side that suffered a one-point loss to the Canberra Vikings in this past weekend’s Semi Final having lifted the title in 2018. The Nadroga product also had a three-month spell with VRAC in Spain’s División de Honor earlier this year.

It’s the 8th new signing for Old Glory ahead of their regular season debut. Along with Naikatini, the team has also recruited Penn State pair Jack McLean and Mike Dabulas, USA-eligible prop Gordon Fullerton, and established MLR trio Travis Larsen, Jamason Fa’anana-Schultz, and Dylan Taikato-Simpson.
