Jeremy Misailegalu among those joining Rugby ATL

Jeremy Misailegalu is on the move again. ‘The Missile’ will play for his third Major League Rugby team in 2020 having joined up with Rugby ATL for their inaugural campaign. In doing so he will join a select club that will include New England’s Tadhg Leader and soon-to-be ATL teammate Amro Gouda.

The powerful wing or outside center played for the Seattle Seawolves in 2018 before joining Utah for the 2019 season. He played 11 games for the Warriors, starting 8, but found himself competing against the likes of internationals Fetu’u Vainikolo, Gannon Moore, and Josh Whippy for playing time.

Misailegalu, who turns 26 next month, is not the only new name arriving in Atlanta. Gouda is set to join up having been second string at the Houston SaberCats in 2019. He played for the NOLA Gold in 2018 and is currently attached to ATL’s development team – ‘404 Rugby‘.

Former Glendale flanker Jason Damm has moved to ATL after just three appearances for the Raptors in 2019. USA Selects cap Martini Talapusi has also signed on. The Life West fullback last played professional rugby for the San Francisco Rush during the 2016 PRO season.

Others currently lining up for 404 who are aiming for a spot on ATL’s senior roster include former San Diego Legion lock Sam Peri, 2019 Rudy Scholz Award nominee Eamonn Matthews, and USA South Panthers standout Lucas Baistrocchi. Front rower Cullen Barelka played for Old Glory in the spring but is now in the sights of another expansion franchise.
