San Diego add Devereaux Ferris to scrumhalf stocks

Devereaux Ferris has been added to the San Diego Legion roster for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The Life West captain and once-capped Eagle fills the gap at scrumhalf left by departed Nick Boyer, who has returned to the Glendale Raptors.

Originally from New Zealand, Ferris emerged as an international candidate after impressing in the No9 shirt for the San Francisco Rush during the 2016 PRO season. He missed out on the inaugural MLR season in 2018, but was nonetheless included in the USA Selects side for the Americas Pacific Challenge after completing his residency requirements, and made his test debut as a replacement against Samoa in November of last year.

The 25-year-old is set to provide competition to World Cup select Nate Augspurger for the starting role at San Diego. He is the 8th new signing of the off-season for the 2019 finalists. Among the others are Eagles hooker Peter Malcolm, Welsh international Dominic Day, and All Blacks star Ma’a Nonu.
