Australia coach Michael Cheika calls it quits

Australia’s Head Coach has called it quits. Michael Cheika has stood down from the position one day after the Wallabies fell to a RWC Quarter Final defeat against England in Tokyo.

Cheika coached Australia at RWCs 2015 and 2019, doing so after becoming Head Coach in October 2014. With him in charge the Wallabies made the final of RWC 2015.

Since then the performances did not have the consistency which Australia in famous for. This sees Cheika’s time up with Australia ranked 7th in the world rankings.

With the Cheika era having concluded Australia will now search for the next Wallabies Head Coach. Indications are that it will most likely not be an Australian due to the current lack of experienced coaches in domestic Super Rugby teams and abroad.
