NOLA Gold re-sign three for 2020

The NOLA Gold have now officially locked in 24 players for the 2020 Major League Rugby season with the confirmation of three more re-signings. Cam Falcon, Kevin O’Connor, and Ross Depperschmidt will stay in New Orleans next season as continuity remains a theme of the off-season.

Falcon has been an ever-present for the Gold since their inception, appearing in all 24 MLR games for the club. His ability to cover both hooker and tighthead prop makes him a valuable component of the front row group. Still just 26 years old, the USA Select will look to push for more starting time next season after being named in the run-on side just once in 2019.

Also looking to challenge for a starting role is openside flanker Kevin O’Connor. A former first team All-American, he had a brief stint in Ireland with Trinity College before returning stateside. After joining the Gold mid-season O’Connor played just four matches but showed well including a strong effort off the bench in the come-from-behind win over Austin.

Depperschmidt was a late-season addition to the squad after impressing with the Gold’s academy side. The 25-year-old midfielder has yet to make an appearance in MLR but should get the chance to do so in 2020. An all-conference select while playing collegiate rugby for Alabama, Depperschmidt has also represented the USA South Panthers.
