Jamason Fa’anana-Schultz swaps Houston for DC

New Eagles cap Jamason Fa’anana-Schultz has signed with expansion side Old Glory DC for the 2020 Major League Rugby campaign. The powerhouse loose forward makes the switch from the Houston SaberCats, who he joined mid-season in 2019 after opting to pursue international honors with the USA.

Fa’anana-Schultz made an immediate impression with the SaberCats with his bruising running style proving highly effective from the back of the scrum. He would start seven games, scoring three tries, and was a major component to the club’s turnaround after a dismal start to the season.

Born in Australia, he represented Samoa at u20 level but his American father qualified him for the USA. His form earned a call-up to the Eagles squad for the Pacific Nations Cup and Fa’anana-Schultz made his test debut against Canada in July. Despite narrowly missing out on World Cup selection, at just 23 he looks set to challenge for a starting role in the near future.
