Russia To Bid To Host RWC 2027

Russia is to bid to host RWC 2027. Interest in having the Rugby World Cup in the world’s largest country  was confirmed by CEO and chairman of the board of the Russian Rugby Union (FRR), Stanislav Druzhinin.

It is the second time that Russia is seeking to host a Rugby World Cup. In 2013 Moscow hosted the Men’s Sevens World Cup. Druzhinin noted that Russia is interested in hosting the tournament for a second time.

Russia’s venues that would be used for the possible RWC 2027 in the country have not been confirmed. It has nonetheless been declared by Druzhinin that the intention would be to use the stadiums from the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

RWC 2027 is to be the 11th edition of the Rugby World Cup. Russia’s interest in bidding follows previously confirmed interest from Argentina, and Australia. Other countries are expected to show interest with South Africa and the USA both being potential candidates.
