Americas Rankings – October 06 2019

As of today, October 06 2019 there are eight days remaining of the pool stage of Rugby World Cup 2019. Today is a match day with Namibia facing New Zealand and France taking-on Tonga. Neither match has implications for the Americas Rankings.

Involvement of Americas countries concluded for the week on Saturday. Both Argentina and Uruguay played their third pool matches while on Wednesday Canada and the USA had their respective second matches of the tournament.

In Oita New Zealand completed a 63-0 win over Canada.  Due to the massive difference in rankings points heading into the match there was no change to the ranking of either country.

In Fukuoka the USA fell to a 33-9 defeat against France. The loss came after the Eagles had been 15-9 down with 15 minutes remaining. The final result means that the teams exchange 0.135 rankings points. This sees the USA falling to a new ranking of 71.69.

Uruguay competed well against Australia on Saturday in Oita. Los Teros were beaten 45-10, a massive improvement from the corresponding fixture in 2015 wherein Australia won by 62 points.

Argentina’s heavy loss against England had no impact on the ranking. Despite falling to a 39-10 loss there were no exchanged points between the sides.

The Americas Rankings will be updated again following more RWC 2019 matches involving countries from the region. One fixture includes a historic North America vs South America battle as the Eagles face Los Pumas in Kumagaya on Wednesday.
