Tasman Mako headed to Houston and Seattle in January

New Zealand’s Mitre 10 Cup will go head-to-head with Major League Rugby for the first time in the New Year when the Tasman Mako arrive on US soil. The provincial unit will play against two MLR sides – the Houston SaberCats on a date to be confirmed followed by the Seattle Seawolves on Sunday, January 26.

The Seattle match could have added intrigue as a potential champions vs champions encounter. Tasman are currently at the top of the Mitre 10 Premiership table with a perfect six-from-six record. While they will not be at full strength on their tour, all those without Super Rugby contracts are expected to travel with All Blacks prop Tim Perry to captain the side.

Further information on the MLR preseason is expected shortly with the regular season schedule set to be announced on Monday, September 23. The 2020 season will kick off three weeks later than in 2019, with the expanded 12-team competition to begin on the February 15 weekend.
