The Houston SaberCats have announced the signing of 19-year-old winger Zack Godfrey for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. He arrives from England where he was part of the Leicester Tigers and Ealing Trailfinders academy programs. Having been born in the USA he is eligible to represent the Eagles.
Godfrey attended Stamford School, an independent boys school that fields multiple rugby sides. He also played for nearby club Sleaford RFC. Also capable of playing center or fullback, he boasts a mix of power and speed as evidenced in a video montage posted below.
It’s the second new signing for the SaberCats, who have already confirmed the addition of South African midielder Tiaan Loots. The club has also confirmed their new Director of Rugby in Paul Healy. Among those departing are Eagles trio Paul Mullen, Jamason Fa’anana-Schultz, and Thretton Palamo, with Fijian flyer Josua Vici now playing in Colomiers, France.
