Americas Rankings – September 08 2019

The Americas Rankings – September 08 2019 mark the final edition of the RWC 2015-2019 cycle involving competition teams in the competition.

The current edition of the rankings takes into account the USA’s 20-15 away win over Canada in Vancouver on Saturday. The match result sees the teams exchanging 0.243 points which translates into a slight gain for the USA and a loss for Canada.

In the World Rankings the result means that the USA move from 14th to 13th in the world to go above Italy. Further gain will be made should the Eagles win matches at RWC 2019. Their game against Tonga will be crucial in this regard.

Also playing this weekend were both Argentina and Uruguay. Los Pumas were comprehensive winners over Randwick in Australia while the next of XV, the Argentina XV defeated Uruguay in Montevideo. With neither being a capped test match no rankings points were exchanged.

The Americas will have four competitors at RWC 2019. This will be the case with a two-two split between Rugby Americas North and Sudamérica Rugby each having two teams. Argentina enters the RWC as the highest ranked country from the region followed by the USA in second; Uruguay in third; and Canada in fourth.
