Argentina’s RWC warm-up matches were completed earlier today with a huge win over Randwick in Sydney, Australia. Mario Ledesma’s team were 74-0 winners over the Sydney club side.
The match was placed in the schedule to give the team a low pressure fixture as a run-in to the RWC. It saw a possible game against Fiji, also in Australia, turned down.
The match being played in Australia was due to Los Pumas opting to reduce their travel in half from Argentina to Japan. They will now depart for Tokyo where they will prepare for their opening match of the World Cup against France no Saturday, September 21.
Rested against Ranwick were Javier Ortega Desio and captain Pablo Matera. This saw Tomás Cubelli leading the side and it would be he who would score the first points. The scrum-half scored after a break from N8 Tomás Lezana from there back of a scrum.
Try number two followed minutes later. This time it was from a maul with the advancing move enabling Julián Montoya to touch down. Fellow forwards Juan Manuel Leguizamón, and Marcos Kremer would both also score in the opening half as would winger Santiago Carreras.
In the second half Los Pumas would ring the changes and there would be seven more tries. Four of them were scored by winger Bautista Delguy while Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro, Agustín Creevy, and Ramiro Moyano also each scored.
