Ramiro Herrera To Play For Barbarians

Ramiro Herrera is to play for the Barbarians. The 30-year-old was one of four players announced today to play for the composite side against Fiji on November 16.

Herrera was on Argentina’s roster for the Rugby Championship and earned one cap. It was as a replacement against Australia in Brisbane. With the scrum not performing he would not be given further opportunities and Mario Ledesma omitted him from the RWC roster.

Also out of RWC 2019 is Mathieu Bastareaud. The future Major League Rugby (MLR) center for Rugby United New York is now playing for Lyon as a medical japer during the World Cup.

The two other players named today on the Barbarians roster will both be playing at the World Cup. They are the Springboks duo of prop Tendai Mtawarira, and scrum half Herschel Jantijies. The remainder of the roster will be named over time ahead of the match.

The Barbarians also have dates confirmed for matches against Brazil, and Wales. The fixture against Os Tupis in São Paulo will mark the first appearance of the Barbarians in Brazil.
