Joe Pietersen signs on for more with Legion

Joe Pietersen will be suiting up for the San Diego Legion in 2020. The Major League Rugby finalists have confirmed that their starting flyhalf and captain will be sticking around for at least another year. At 35 years old, Pietersen may well look to end his career in San Diego though he showed no signs of slowing down in 2019.

After arriving in time to play just the last game of the 2018 campaign, Pietersen was ready to go from Day One this past season and his form was outstanding. Only Seattle super-striker Brock Staller scored more points, with the South African collecting 163 in his 17 games. He started all but one match for the Legion.

San Diego have now extended the contracts of 11 players during the off-season. New additions include Peter Malcolm, Ben Mitchell, Dominic Day, Steffon Armitage, Tira Patterson, and most recently Chris Eves, while Jasa Veremalua is entering the second of a two-year deal.
