RWC Rewind USA: Grobler try vs Australia in 1999

During the final weeks of waiting for Rugby World Cup 2019 to arrive Americas Rugby News will be taking a look back at some moments from past RWCs involving competitors from the Americas. In week three the feature team is the USA.

In day two of the series the feature is the only try conceded by Australia at RWC 1999. The Wallabies would be the champions in the fourth edition of the Rugby World Cup. They were the undisputed best team of the competition with superb tries, goal-kicking and defense.

Victories came against France, Ireland, Romania, South Africa, USA, and Wales with the try conceded being that scored by USA center Juan Grobler. The try saw the mid-fielder finishing off a team attack by scoring in the left corner.

Despite the tournament being Wales 1999 the USA would play all of their matches in Ireland. The fixture against Australia took place at Thomond Park in Limerick.
